Toy Fair 2010 – Star Wars (including the huge AT-AT!!)

Woot! The AT-AT in it’s full toy glory has been announced. Since I got the Millennium Falcon, I have been waiting to see what was next from Hasbro. And they didn’t dissappoint. The new figure looks huge ass and packed with accessories too!

Hasbro announced their plans for the year and there are quite a few things to look forward to, like their vintage line. I also did like the Birth of Darth Vader battlepack. oooo yaaa! More pics here, here and here.

Awesome Star Wars Lego Photos

There have been many beautiful pics taken of Star Wars characters through the years. This collection of photos depicting the planet Hoth is pretty awesome. Even better when you find out how the photographer did it. :)

The Legacy Collection Millennium Falcon

LC Millennium Falcon.jpg

Every once in awhile a new figure/vehicle is a released that captures the imagination of fans and collectors alike. There have been a few figures that have captured my imagination, figures like Fortress Maximus, the Transformers Masterpiece series and the upcoming 1/2000 Macross SDF-1.

The Millennium Falcon was one such figure that enticed me after reading initial reviews and see the pics, though by the time I had an interest in getting one, it was either sold out at the stores or was selling for a ridiculous price.

Good things come to those who wait, and boy was it worth the wait. Shaun had a feeling that the Falcon would be on sale at Falcon Hanger’s annual sale. So after initially refusing to get tempted and go down to check it out, I went down. Heh and so the story goes. I also managed to get the Falcon Battlepack and Princess Leia a few days later at the China Sq Flea Markets.

My first thought when I opened the box was, ‘WoW it’s really huge!’ It looks so much bigger when it’s out of box and fully set up. I realised mine is the Japanese version.

The Falcon is awesomely detailed. I know there are fan boys who want a more perfect Falcon, but this is pretty damm good. The size is perfect to fit the figures, and best yet, the Falcon comes with lights and audio clips from the movies! Sweet!

Chewie and Han who come together with the Falcon are well sculpted and fit nicely in the cockpit. The lights in the cockpit are also nice touches.

A nice sickbay for Luke to lie on while Leia takes care of him. :P

The Falcon is damm impressive, and I’m still having dreams about it. I don’t have space for it on my display shelf, but it’ll sit nicely on my movable table for the moment. Will have to ensure a great display area for it once I renovate my room next year.

I’ll end of with some pictures of the lights the Falcon comes with. With the lights off at night, it just rocks my socks off!

New Goodies Out of Box and Some Others

P1030546.jpg

There’s nothing better than opening the boxes and taking out your brand new figures for display. The 12 inch Sideshow Star Wars figures I just picked up rock. The finishing and paint jobs are excellent. The bodies are also much better and can actually pose properly.

P1030547.jpg

The EZ Devastator is another figure that impressed me. It’s made up of 7 separate ‘legends’ size figures that can actually transform to robot and vehicle mode. And when combined, looks pretty much like the badass Devastator from the movie. Sweet! Articulation is pretty good too. The legs and hands can bend and pose, though slightly limited, but great for such a figure.

I haven’t taken pics of my Hot-Toys T600 – Rubber Skin version or John Connor as yet. The detail of the endoskeleton is amazing! Here are the pics.

I also got myself some DiD 12 inch cases and displayed Iron Man Mark I & III in them. very nice. Just need to find space to display Mark II.

Toy Run Weekend

The toy run started with a trip to The Falcon’s Hanger annual sale. I initially wasn’t going to attend, but Shaun’s skills in persuasion were too good to resist.

P1030535.jpg

And guess what I scored at the sale? Woot! Been eyeing the Millennium Falcon sitting at the Hanger for awhile. The sale was the best time to get it. Though the Falcon without the full crew does seem empty, so that meant heading down to China Square on Sunday to see if I could find the rest of the crew at the flea markets. It was also Jacinta’s first time, and she had fun. It’s great when your other half appreciates your loves.

P1030541.jpg P1030542.jpg

At the flea markets I found myself the perfect battlepack for the Falcon, as well as a Princess Leia. The collection was complete! :)

Then came Monday, Shaun had to check out some locations around the area. Ended up trekkin from the Hanger to Bugis, to Simply Toys at Suntec. But it was all worth it as I collected more goodies.

A great weekend of toy collecting and checking out the fave haunts. Time to lock up the wallet and keep way for awhile. :)

What Stormtroopers Get Up To When You’re Not Looking…

Stormtroopers are only human (or clones), and when they’re not kicking rebel scum of getting sliced and diced by Jedi, they need to rest too!

SDCC’09: Sideshow Star Wars 12′ inch Figures

  IMG_0799.JPG.jpeg

What better way to start the morning than some display pics of Grand Admiral Thrawn and other Star Wars figures at SDCC’09. Gonna be adding Thrawn to my pre-order list for sure! Not sure about Lando or Anakin though. More pics here. And if you’re a GI Joe fan, Sideshow’s offerings are here.

SDCC’09: Sideshow Star Wars Grand Admiral Thrawn 12′ inch Figure

thrawn.jpg

Latest news from the San Diego Comic Con 2009, Sideshow’s Grand Admiral Thrawn 12′ inch figure has been announced! Woot!

This has been one of my favourite characters from the expanded universe. Fans will remember him from the Timothy Zhan trilogy of Star Wars novels. Often considered as the true sequels to the movies. If you haven’t read them yet, go get the novels or buy the comics! Wonder if this mean we will see a 12′ inch Mara Jade Skywalker next? oooooooooo :)

Trip to the Toy Carnival @ SAM ** 5 July 2009

3680319032_e78d2bbc44_o

Headed down early in the morning to catch the very first Toy Carnival @ SAM. I must saw I was impressed with the whole set up and the number of vendors who graced the event. Kudos to Roy and team from The Falcon’s Hanger who organised this who event. I arrived at about 9.15am to see the finishing touches to the set up. Boxes were still being unloaded and the toys were still being placed on the tables.

It was great to catch up with Shaun and Ted as well as meeting Ken for the first time. And as soon as the doors opened at 10am sharp, the crowd thronged right in. I work for NHB and it’s not often we see such crowds from the start at the event till the very end. Trust toys to draw people and bring the community together. There were heaps of toy displays, toys for sale and live Star Wars characters walking around. I didn’t take pics of everything, Just some highlights of the day for me.

P1020687 [1024x768]P1020690 [1024x768]P1020691 [1024x768]P1020697 [1024x768]P1020698 [1024x768]P1020699 [1024x768]P1020700 [1024x768]P1020701 [1024x768]P1020702 [1024x768]P1020703 [1024x768]P1020705 [1024x768]P1020706 [1024x768]P1020707 [1024x768]

So what did I end up getting? Well I had high hopes of getting a few 12 inch figures at good prices, but unfortunately those that I liked were marked up way beyond their original prices. And the one I really wanted to get that I could afford, well lets just say some idiotic toy shop owner with his name starting with V barged in and bought the figure. Most probably to sell at a much higher price at his own place. I’ve had previous run-ins with this person and everytime he has been arrogant and unpleasant. grrrrr But I had to get something to at least say I got something, lol. So trust TFH to provide, I got a nice little exclusive WST Hot Rod from them.

P1020711 [1024x768]

And to make me happy, I ended up leaving the fair to collect my Sideshow Darth Vader and Stormtrooper Commander which made my day. Vader rocks and I love his size. Nice and huge in comparison to the Stormtroopers.

P1020710 [1024x768]

The Toy Carnival was a blast. Even if I didn’t really get anything, it was great to see the community of toy collectors coming together and to see all the great stuff on sale and on display. I liked this much better than the Singapore Toy, Games & Comics Convention as it had much more main stream stuff than compared to the Otaku and Vinyl/Pop culture stuff at STGCC. As well as the community feel it had to the carnival. I also ended up checking out SAM’s TransportASIAN photography exhibition with Jas. Some really nice visuals and works on display. All in all, a fun day out!
