I’ve been collecting DVDs for a few years now and have moved on to Blu-rays. I’m still pretty amazed that the prices of blu-rays in Singapore are still very high. With new Blu-rays selling locally for about S$50 – S$60 and older ones about S$30 – S$40.
I’ve been getting my blu-rays from the US Amazon store for the past few years and the prices have been falling rapidly in the past year. With similar titles selling for about S$20 – S$30 each. Even Inception which was just released is selling for US$17.99 which is about S$27 here including shipping. Compare this with the $49.95 price of local blu-rays. Where would you choose to buy from?
Also, reports are that the locally made blu-rays may not be ripped or encoded with the same quality as the US versions, and they may not have the same extra features as the US version. I for one will continue to purchase from Amazon, I may have to wait a couple of weeks for the blu-rays to ship over, but it’s worth the savings and quality. Can’t wait for the titles (as in the pic above) I’ve ordered to reach me.

A few weeks ago I was tasked to go to Paris to accompany some members of the media to help cover the Baba Bling exhibition at musée du quai Branly. It’s Singapore’s first major exhibition overseas and I was privileged to be able to see and experience it first hand. It was a whirlwind trip for me as I had to come back for work, but I did manage to catch some sites and sounds of a lovely Paris in Autumn. continue reading..

I’ve been MIA for awhile due to work and personal life. My room’s renovation is almost complete and I can’t wait to rip open some boxes and take more pics of my scores.
At work I’ve been busy organising the Explore Singapore! 2010 campaign. An annual campaign celebrating museum activities islandwide. This year we managed to get J C Sum and ‘Magic Babe’ Ning to perform their amazing illusions at our museums. There’re heaps of fun activities starting this weekend and ending with a Mega Illusion at the Asian Civilisations Museum on the 12 December.

I can’t wait to see the illusions and enjoy the toy carnivals and open houses. Hope to see you all there! Oh one more thing, there’s a chance to win an iPod Touch and CapitaVouchers. Check out the webby for details!
