Christmas came early in Tokyo. The latest pics from the Hot Toys 10th Anniversary Exhibition in Tokyo look great with some new reveals! First was the new licenses, of which I’m excited about Captain America, Batman (Michael Keaton’s Bats) and Indiana Jones.

But the main highlight was seeing some pics of upcoming 12′ inch figures coming out. There’s Raiders of the Lost Ark Indiana Jones, Iron Man Mark V, Iron Monger prototype, Resident Evil Alice and Thor! Thor is looking really good! I’ll let the pics speak for themselves. You can also see more here. continue reading..

I scored this together with the Man in Suit at STGCC 2010. It looks the typical military figure, but with the STGCC logo on the box! :) The box cover is similar to the Man in Suit exclusive and is pretty flimsy. When you remove it, you see the usual Soldier Story type box, but without the STGCC logo :( continue reading..

I was happy to score this on the first day of STGCC 2010. The box art was printed on rather flimsy paper compared to the thicker paper on normal releases. Though the box itself had a nice silver print of the relevant logos and title. continue reading..

Popped down on the opening day of the Singapore Toys, Games & Comics Convention 2010 at Suntec City. It was pretty packed at the midday opening. I managed to score the Soldier Story exclusives that U Toys were selling. There weren’t too shabby. Nice having the STGCC logos on the box art. Would be even better if they had a small STGCC logo patch for the figures! lol

There was even a nice paper bag for the two exclusives.

I’ve been collecting DVDs for a few years now and have moved on to Blu-rays. I’m still pretty amazed that the prices of blu-rays in Singapore are still very high. With new Blu-rays selling locally for about S$50 – S$60 and older ones about S$30 – S$40.

I’ve been getting my blu-rays from the US Amazon store for the past few years and the prices have been falling rapidly in the past year. With similar titles selling for about S$20 – S$30 each. Even Inception which was just released is selling for US$17.99 which is about S$27 here including shipping. Compare this with the $49.95 price of local blu-rays. Where would you choose to buy from?

Also, reports are that the locally made blu-rays may not be ripped or encoded with the same quality as the US versions, and they may not have the same extra features as the US version. I for one will continue to purchase from Amazon, I may have to wait a couple of weeks for the blu-rays to ship over, but it’s worth the savings and quality. Can’t wait for the titles (as in the pic above) I’ve ordered to reach me. :)

The teaser trailer of Transformers 3 is out and it’s lookin good! There’s even a hint of Alpha Trion there. Could also be Vector Prime. Either way, it’s a good link to the TF lore. Can’t wait till July 2011. The youtube link’s below. You can find the HD link here.
