Check out this amazing stop motion video! The Japanese director must have spent ages conceptualising the storyboard. So creative, only in Japan…..

Latest news from the San Diego Comic Con 2009, Sideshow’s Grand Admiral Thrawn 12′ inch figure has been announced! Woot!
This has been one of my favourite characters from the expanded universe. Fans will remember him from the Timothy Zhan trilogy of Star Wars novels. Often considered as the true sequels to the movies. If you haven’t read them yet, go get the novels or buy the comics! Wonder if this mean we will see a 12′ inch Mara Jade Skywalker next? oooooooooo

Thanks to Eddie’s updates from the International Tokyo Toy Show 2009, there’s so much more to look forward from Hot Toys in the coming months.
Firstly, there’s the new Marvel licence that Hot Toys have gained.

Apparently it’s licences from the Marvel movies that have come out. Meaning 12′ inch figures from the X-Men trilogy, Spiderman Trilogy and more! Imagine Spidy and Venom figures! oooooo I can’t wait to see what they come up with. The latest Wolverine figure already looks great, though I’m resisting temptation to get it. heh

Another great licence is the Matrix! Yups, finally we may get to see Neo in 12′ inch goodness. Will have to see the pics before deciding.

What was unexpected to me was figures from Pixar’s UP. They look really good. I’m so looking forward to the movie and these figures are just adding to the temptation.

Hot Toys just keep coming up with the goodz. And while I’m not sure if I’ll get any of the upcoming figures, I’ve already confirmed my orders for the Terminator 4 figures. Those will keep me bankrupt and busy for the rest of the year!

Do check out the rest of Eddie’s updates, with more pics and writeups there. Good stuff!

I got my 32GB iPhone 3GS (Black)!! It was kinda a last minute decision last Saturday night. Jas was teasing me and kept asking me if I was gonna get one. I was trying to keep away from temptation, but heck with it! So I got on the computer and did some quick research.
Via Jas’s Singtel plan, all we needed was to pay for the new phone via a recontract of her plan which came up to $508 + pay the up discounted upgrade fee of $300 as the plan was still in it’s first year after having bough the iPhone 3G last August. Thus, a total of $808 was to be paid. That’s a huge amount, and while Singtel was offering a trade-in amount of $400 for the iPhone 3G which meant paying $408 instead, that is still heaps to pay. So I quickly put up my iPhone 3G for sale one of the known local forums in SG. And 3 hours later, I sold the phone for $650! Woot! So off I went with Jas the next day to Singtel Comcentre and got the new 32GB iPhone 3GS for a sweet $158. Cheap cheap!

I’m loving the new phone and and already jailbreaked it. S really stands for speed. Apps load up much faster and surfing as well. It’s like going from a 386 to a 486. lol. The new camera is also a blast. The videos taken are pretty decent quality as well as some great macro shots. All in all, it’s worth the upgrade for me. But then again, I’m a bit of a tech geek.

And for those on Starhub that are wondering, you can use the directions as stated in my previous post to enable MMS & Tethering for your iPhone 3GS.
iPhoto is a great program to use to store and categorise your pictures. The program allows you to do minimal editing as well as uploading to your .Me gallery or facebook. In addition, you can also create iPhoto books which you can then get Apple to publish for you!
I decided to give it a try and create a book of my recent Japan trip to see how good the quality was as well as give it as a gift to Jas for her birthday.
Setting up the iPhoto book is really easy and it’s all done using iPhoto. You have a selection of themes to choose from as well as being able to format the pages yourself. For the pages, you can select to use maps, photos and copy in many different ways. It’s real easy to use!
Finally, once you have completed your book, you choose what kinda publishing you want. You can choose various sizes, ring binding, softcover, hardcover, etc. I choose the largest size in hardcover. After choosing the specs for the book, all you do it key in your particulars, credit card details and finally press the button to purchase and upload the whole book to the Apple servers for printing.
The forgot to take note of where the book shipped from, but it only took about 3 weeks to reach me (iPhoto states about 1 month) from the time I ordered the book. The book came in a nice brown package and once opened, there was the typical slick Apple packaging in which the book lay.

The book was also plastic wrapped for extra protection.

I was impressed with the great quality of the book. The colours were rich and vibrant, and the paper used was of good quality.

The binding was also pretty good without any complaints. The only issue I found was at the back page of the book, where the seam was pulling the paper off from the hardcover. But this is a small issue which as long as the book isn’t opened wide open, the paper won’t tear off the back.
Overall, I’m very happy with the result of the iPhoto book. I paid about SG$80 in total for about 30 pages and delivery. Compared to other similar local photo book printing services, that’s a bargain! And the best part is that you can to format the book to your own liking and with many themes to choose from. The book is great as a gift and keep sake and I’m definitely going to do up more books. Kudos to Apple for this great service!
