Tokyo – Day 2 of 9 : Harajuku, Shibuya

  P1010162.JPG

The day started at Harajuku with me and Jas braving the mass of people. From Harajuku we walked to Shibuya. It was a long day of shopping and eating. heh.

First up was the crape in Harajuku, I previously tried this 2 years ago and it was lovely then. So I had to grab another one when I saw the stall was still around. Strawberry crape. Nice…. The whipped cream is deadly! So so rich.

The thing about Japan is that there are so many weird and wonderful things to see. I came across this shop which had the cutest matches,,,, with faces!! Would you even want to light one and burn them up? lol

No trip to Shibuya would be incomplete without two pictures, one of the famous Shibuya Crossing, the largest and busiest pedestrian crossing in the world.

And the other pic would be a pic of Shibuya from the crossing at night.

After a tiring day, the best ending would be great food. Jas and I walked around the streets of Shinjuku and saw a Yakiniku restaurant that looked good the night before. So tonight we went there. From the pic you’ll see it’s a smokey place. It’s in one of the back streets that it’s almost impossible for me to give you accurate directions to the place.

P1010234.JPG

The food was simply excellent! I love eating Yakiniku back home in Singapore, Robertson Quay and Holland Village both have good places. But this little place in Shinjuku was awesome! The food was good quality and cheap! And the atmosphere was second to none! Small, smoky and full of Japs! We’re definitely going back there before the trip is over.

Super Jap Girls!

P1010212.JPG

It’s amazing how Japanese girl’s go the extra mile to look good. It’s about 8 degrees at night and 11 – 13 degrees in the day here in Tokyo, and all over on the street you can see girls with short short skirts walking around. Yes, the Jap girls like to flaunt it and I’m not complaining.

But while most girls wear short skirts with stockings/leggings that help keep them warm, there are many others who just go with just skin!! It’s amazing in this weather! Great to look at, but it’s constantly surprising me.

Tokyo – Day 1 of 9 : Shinjuku, Ikebukuro

P1010149.JPG

I’m in Tokyo and loving it! It’s pretty cold here, about 9 degrees averaging, brrrr. So I may or may not update my site for the next 2 weeks. The pic above is Shinjuku by night. Staying very near by.

The flight over on the A380 was great. Sat on the upper deck, it’s everything that SIA say’s it is. Love the new inflight entertainment system.

P1010096.JPG

And Shinjuku by day. Tomorrow is Harajuku and Shibuya. Will catch the cosplayers. I hope to check out the great toys and action stuff on this trip as well. Can’t wait!

Some other random pics as a sign off for tonite!

Bye Bye Battlestar Galactica, Hello Caprica

battlestar_galactica_last_supper.jpg.jpeg

Possibly the greatest Sci-Fi television series to date, Battlestar Galactica has finally ended it’s run on TV over the weekend. Friends have been hounding me non-stop the past few year’s to watch it, and I finally caved in early this year. I started from the Pilot movie, and I was hooked immediately.

BSG has been a breath of fresh air to the Sci-Fi genre. It’s not your typical Sci-Fi show, it is dark, touches on humanity, spirituality, modern society and it also has great space battles and ships! I’ll sure miss BSG at it’s gritty best. I’m happy they ended the series by answering most questions, though it opened up one or two more. lol

Even with the series over, fans can still look forward to the upcoming TV movie in November. The Plan show’s the Cylon’s perspective to the war. It will be good to have more good ol BSG! Check out the trailer below, looks pretty good.

Better yet, a new series, Caprica, is being produced and the pilot will come out in April. I was initially sceptical when I heard it would be telling the story of the Adamas before the war and would be more dramatic. But after watching the trailer before, it does seem captivating!

BSG will sure be missed, but with more movies and hopefully a great new TV series, hopefully the BSG universe will live on for a long long time! I can’t wait for the Blu-Ray set for BSG to come out, July 2009 is the rumour! woot!

The Looney and Surreal

I can appreciate good photography, and I like it even better when the artist touches up his photos to create unusual and surreal images. Check out Erik Johansson’s site which has some impressive visualisations.

Latest Grabs – 130309

It’s been awhile since I took any pics of my stuff. And I hope to start again soon. Especially now with my new Lumix LX3 which takes great shots! lol

I dropped by The Falcon’s Hanger yesterday to pic up two TF’s. First was Henkei Rachet.

And the second is the Alternity Convoy. It’s a pity that the new Alternity range is much smaller than the Binaltechs, when compared together, the size just doesn’t match up. Though I like the new packaging. Nice plastic.

Hot Toy’s Terminator Salvation: John Connor

Hot Toys keep coming up with the most accurate portrayals of movie characters. The latest being Terminator Salvation’s John Connor. I as originally wasn’t going to get this figure, but after seeing the preview pics, I’m sold. The Christian Bale sculpt looks awesome! I can’t wait to fill the cupboard up with the Endoskeletons and this great figure! Wonder if they will do the Marcus Wright figure where he shows his battle damaged Endoskeleton under his flesh like in the trailers. Cause they will most probably sell me too! :P Woot!
