Ground Zero – Singapore

Ever wondered how much of Singapore would be devastated in a Nuke attack? Well this website, Ground Zero, uses the magic of Google Maps and Javascript to give you an idea of just where you wouldn’t want to be in a Nuke attack on Singapore. That is, no where nearby! You can search for different cities of the world and see how much of those cities would be devastated. Some pics below. :P

This shows the blast radius the Atomic bomb on Hiroshima. I’m surprised, it’s not as huge as I thought it was. Imagine, nukes nowadays are heaps more powerful, keep on scrolling to see how much!

2.jpg

A nice little legend to show you how much pain you would be in the blast zones. Even if you are out of the blast radius, radiation fallout would be sure to kill you in days or give you strange cancerous mutations for the rest of your life and your children’s life, so much pain that you just wished you died right there in the red hot blast.

1.jpg

This is the blast radius of modern nukes. See how screwed we are? Not a chance. Who the hell lives in Lim Chu Kang or Changi? lol

4.jpg

Here we have the largest ever explosion ever produced in history. Trust the commies to think up of something ever so stupid. Just destroy everything! Including yourself!

3.jpg

And finally the end of civilisation as we know it. Or rather the blast radius of the asteroid impact that wiped out the dinosaurs (or did it). Doesn’t matter if you live halfway around the world in the US, as the impact would create tsunami’s and debris and dust clouds that would create a new ice age that would kill everyone on Earth. Except maybe those cute Polar Bears or Emperor Penguins in the North and South Poles, they just love the cold. :P

So there you have it. The reason why we should ban nukes and shoot down asteroids Armageddon style. World Peace Baby!

Singapore Port Panorama

Singapore_port_panorama.jpg

One of the busiest ports in the world, if not the busiest, one can see the massive scale of our port facilities. Check out the huge number of containers in the port. The island in the middle is Pulau Brani, while Sentosa is further away on the right.

Green Tokyo

As part of the Ecology theme of the Japan Media Arts Festival held recently in Tokyo, the Green Island Project came up with a series of visuals depicting popular Tokyo streets replaced with fields of green grass. Above is the famous crossing in Shibuya, and here below is how it looks with green green grass! lol The depictions are pretty interesting. I for one can’t wait to walk down those streets come my trip end March!

Devastator Toy Pics and More!

Devastator-(Robot)__scaled_600

Latest pics for ROTF from the Toy Fair 2009 are out! And Devastator looks chunky! The toy is supposed to be huge, though unfortunately it’s been announced that the Devastator toy wont have separate parts that can transform to both robot and vehicle, only vehicle modes. There will be other toys with will have both but cant combined! WTF??

Constructions

Six different alternate figures connect to make Devastator.
The Big combiner takes up space – 2 ft high, about 4 ft wide.
Becuase is huge there are no secondary (robot) mode just alt and the combiner limbs.
There will be other figures that have full robot and alternate modes.

If you’re wondering how big Devastator is compared to the rest of the bots in real life, check out the visual below. HUGE!!

actoys2.jpg

Some new ROTF pics appeared on ACToys.net, and boy are they teasers! Our first look at Devastator and The Fallen. Devastator looks pretty bad ass, hope it really looks like this in the movies. But what I’m interested is the toys, from the info below, it looks to be a pretty expensive toy.

Supreme Combiner Item Number 83908 Devastator RRP – £99.99
– Characters combine to form the ultimate movie villain from ROTF lights and Sound bring this character to life, large scale transformer packed with features
Ages 5+ Master carton 2 requires 2 x AA Batteries

The Fallen looks mysterious and I hope there’s really some good lore behind him. Wonder if he’s anything like ‘The Fallen’ from the TF: War Within comics.

TF2Villians2.jpg

The final pic, and the question is does it tease Megatron’s return in TF2? hrmmmm interesting.

Woot! With the retro 80’s resurgence, Mattel is coming out with the classic Ghostbusters in 12 inch! The movies where popcorn fun and there’s event a new Ghostbusters game coming out soon for the PC, PS3, XBox and Wii. The figures do look good, I especially like their backpacks. There’s even a slimer figure!! Will definitely consider getting these. More pics after the jump!

World War II in colour

011ol7.jpg

I’ve always been a fan of WWII, watching movies and reading books. Most pictures taken during the time were in black & white due to the technology in the day. Though not many people know that there were some pics taken in colour as well as some film reels. I recently came across this website which had some colour pics and I had to put some of them up. Respect to those who fought against evil and tyranny. May they always be remembered and honoured. More pics after the jump, click on the link for the full set.

Yesterday.sg revamp

1.jpg

Singapore’s one stop website for all things heritage & culture has undergone a major revamp! Yesterday.sg now sports a great new look and many new features and is now a portal of sorts.

2.jpg

The core of the site still remains with stories, news and event coverage constantly updated daily. New additions include a forum page, list of museums in SG, Galleries of pics and best of all, Heritage TV! HTV is created and produced inhouse by NHB. New episodes are uploaded every 2 weeks and will cover interesting angles on heritage places/locations as well as events. HTV promises to be interesting, engaging and down to earth.

I like the new site and it has given me a renewed sense of excitement for the industry as a whole! So surf on to it and check it out now!
