Bearie Bear Workshop

title.jpg

Over 90 parents and children gathered at the Mint Museum of Toys @ Seah St yesterday for the Bearie Bear Workshop, an event part of the Explore Singapore! 2008 Campaign. The museum was the perfect venue for the event as it’s already full of wonderful toys from the past.

Each kid upon registration for the event received an unstuffed bear. Which came in a variety of colours, blue, yellow, green and orange.

The children were taught how to stuff their own bear and place a ‘heart’ in the bear. They were even given a special sheet of paper on which they could write down the weight, height and other stats of the bear. The kids all had smiles on their faces and you could see they clearly enjoyed themselves. The simple things….

Trust the vendor to make a quick buck, once the bears are all stuffed and sealed. Parents could also buy for their kids clothes and accessories to beautify the bear. These retailed at a cheaper cost of $12, usual price, $29.90. lol. Overall, a fun afternoon. Always good to see happy children running about in a museum!

It was food galore at the HungryGoWhere.com Big Eat Out! on Sat. There was great food, flea markets, a Mark Lee museum tour and heaps of other activities. There were families, singles, couples and some good lookers. :P Especially my special someone who came down to give much needed support. Thanks dear!

The event was held at the Peranakan Museum and the carpark next to it. And if you had a look around the grounds on the day, you would have seen some chilis and onions stuck to the ground. It’s tradition for event company’s, film crews, etc. to stick these on the ground as it is believed they bring about good weather. And so it was, the rain only started once the event ended! Personally, I think it was God’s grace and mercy and the prayers from the HungryGoWhere.com guys and many others!

And so we had the best weather! and the best food! Good ol Heritage Hawkers like the Hill Street Char Kway Teow, Hock Lam Beef Noodles, Kway Guan Huat Popiah and Thye Hong Fried Hokkien Mee were all on hand to sooth our savage stomachs!

Mark Lee also graced the occasion to light up the hawker’s day as well as conducting a tour of the Peranakan Museum in his very own quirky way. It was a fun filled day together with the flea markets and festivities in and outside the museum. One notable mention is the creativity of the balloon artist, the designs I saw were just amazing! As you can see with Geraldine’s balloon doll in the pic above.!

Jack & Rai

I was at the Explore Singapore! media preview this morning. Dim Sum Dollies where present with an entertaining skit, as well as Chef Khaled and the AG Flames from the Andrew & Grace Home. But the best highlight for me was Jack & Rai from EIC. I’ve met them briefly before at the Martell event I helped to organise, and they are still top blokes! Check out a short clip of them below,
